Welcome to the MQX Quilt FestivalsTM Blog!

MQX Quilt FestivalsTM - New England, Midwest and Pacific Northwest

Midwest - Springfield, Illinois (October 19-22, 2016)
New England - Manchester, New Hampshire (April 5-8, 2017)

Our shows are conducted with a focus on machine quilters and more recently the class offerings have been broadened to include more educational opportunities  in piecing, embroidery, business, art, and design. Each show offers a wide variety of quilts on display, vendors, classes and events.

We offer personalized service and consider each student an honored guest. It is our mission to create an environment to learn from the best instructors in the quilting industry, meet fellow quilters and keep everyone current on the latest products and techniques in the quilt world.

Welcome to the adventure......

Keep on, Quilting on......

by Mary Schilke & Janet Lee Santeusanio

Retreat sign

As we fine tune our April Show, we are also preparing to leave on our annual quilt retreat. A much-anticipated, well-earned, time to do our own quilt thing. We hear from our students and attendees that MQX is their retreat...... will it be yours?

We thought we'd address some of the more common questions we are asked

Who can come to MQX?  Anyone that loves quilts will enjoy seeing the Special Exhibits, competition quilts, and shopping the vendors on the two showroom floors.

Are there machines to test drive? Our show is the place to try all the top machine quilting products. Vendors have machines on display to try, there are hands-on classes with the option of several different frame, and domestic machines available for your use in class.

Is there a class for me?  If you're looking to learn, MQX offers top-notch instructors from around the country to teach, machine quilting, fabric dying, digital die cutting, how to use a serger, robotic systems, piecing, and more. No club to join, no dues. Click here for class information.

Who can enter the competition?  Anyone can enter..... why not try? There is prize money to be won. Entries must be machine quilted and there's even a category for those that have never entered a national level show (with no jurying). AND, there's two new categories, Wallhanging-Pictorial and New Traditions in Textiles. The judging process has 12 line items and is scored numerically with a goal for everyone to compete, learn from the judging, and of course maybe win! Click here for competition information.

Do we accept new vendors? Absolutely. Our goal is to bring a wide variety of sewing products to our attendees. If you know a vendor who should be at MQX, feel free to give them this number and have them contact us ASAP 866-675-4355. We're almost sold out! Click here for vendor information.

Inside TipToday's Inside Tip - Ironing/pressing quilt backings can be laborious and time consuming. Janet-Lee and Mary haven't ironed a backing in 15 years! Lay the backing across your frame, large table, or on the floor, mist lightly with water, go wind bobbins and prepare your machine. By the time it dries, you're ready to load or pin baste. You can thank us later..........

On Thanksgiving Day we will choose ONE lucky student to receive their currently booked class fees, event fees, and administration fee, up to $250! The fees will be refunded by check or to the credit card used, if already paid for, or wiped out, if invoiced.

We will use a random number generator and hope to do this around 8pm on Thursday, November 24th. Since it is a holiday though, we'd appreciate some flexibility.

The winner will be announced on our MQX Quilt Festival Facebook page. If you are not a member, it's time to join. Click here to join.
