Field of Dreams

by Mary Schilke and Janet-Lee Santeusanio

If you Build it

Corn StalkDo you remember the 1989 movie, Field Of Dreams, with Kevin Costner? It was a great movie that delivered a message of determination and tenacity. If he made the Herculean effort to build the field of dreams, would they come? Yes, they would, and yes they did!

Corn StalkWe can relate to that (you knew where this was headed, right?). For more than 14 years, Janet-Lee and Mary have strived to build high-quality, customer-service-focused quilt festivals that bring together people with the same passion..... quilts and quilting!

Now the question is........ we have built it, will YOU come?

Corn StalkMQX offers a curriculum that is diverse and suitable for all quilt and fiber lovers. There's fabric dyeing, quilt piecing, hand piecing, business, design, machine quilting and more. Of course our shows have leanings toward machine quilting but don't let that limit yourself from seeing stunning quilts, taking a class to try something new, and shopping the vendor mall. Lets face it, whether you own a regular sewing machine, longarm, midarm, sit-down longarm, you have invested your hard earned money into your machine(s). MQX is a golden opportunity to learn a variety of skills from top-notch instructors.

Here you go...... register for MQX, click here!

Corn StalkIntense Piecing Made Easy - Gail Garber is known for precise piecing that appears intense and isn't as hard as it looks. Flying Geese, Freezer Paper Foundation Piecing, and Stars. Gail is also our Friday Night Dinner guest speaker. Her light and lively talk, "We All Have to Start Somewhere" is a celebration of friends that have influenced her quilting journey. Click on Gail's name (above) to learn more.

Corn StalkWholecloth - These quilts are inspiring, yet we're often intimidated by them. Teresa Silva is an ace at wholecloth design and marking. Teresa also offers a new concept, hands-on class incorporating modern designs in a relaxed setting. With one student per machine, this is a good opportunity to spend time at a machine to learn something completely new. Click on Teresa's name (above) for more details.

This little quilt of mine, I'm gonna let it shine

This little quilt of mine, it's gonna do just fine

I'm sendin' it to the show, I'm gonna let it shine

May the Fourth Be With You

by Janet Lee Santeusanio & Mary Schilke

4th of July 2

From our Home to Yours.....

Summer has finally arrived! After winter's long hold on our part of the country, it's great to feel the season's warm days, sitting outside with a cold lemonade, and burgers on the grill.

Although we work on both shows a year or more in advance, we are consistently trying to dispel that "MQX is only for machine quilters." This is so not true! MQX offers more than 125 classes for quilters, piecers, business owners....... for example:

Design a Wholecloth Quilt - With a focus on design, your unique wholecloth could be quilted at a longarm, regular sewing machine, painted, needle punched, hooked..... the sky's the limit. Whatever you decide, this class will give you the tools to create a one-of-a-kind piece. Click here to learn more.

Fabric Dyeing  - Besides being super fun, there's no need to quilt it, you could make clothing or use it for home decorating. What will you use your fabric for? Click here to check out these diverse dyeing classes.

Technology - Goodness.... who knew that a quilting conference would incorporate technology? With classes like Modern Technology for Quilters, Tools like PhotoShop and Electric Quilt, iPad Apps, and creating your own fabric. Click here to get your technology fix.

Piecing -  Click here for all the piecing classes.

What ARE the categories of classes? Click here for an overview....... what suits you?

-------------------------------------------------------------

Please share the news with your quilting friends, guild, and local quilt shops. MQX is a quilt show for all Quilters! A comprehensive flyer is available for your mail orders, quilt guild, and groups. If you need some of our detailed fliers, let JL know

-------------------------------------------------------------

One more thingThe Quilt Competition deadline is July 20th - there's a LOT of prize money to be won. Seriously, why shouldn't we be making out a check to you?  Competition Form is here.

-------------------------------------------------------------

FlagHappy Independence Day - Please be safe - use caution when using any fireworks and please try to be mindful of our veterans that might be suffering from PTSD.... our fur friends too.

Bumper sticker
This bumper sticker can be yours!

Take a look at the quilt competition Categories and Guidelines .... there are many categories to choose from and ALL the prize money is money.. (cash, moola, greenbacks, bucks, cabbage....). MQX hires trained, certified judges and does not use the elimination method of judging. All three judges review EVERY quilt that is entered, gives a score for each of the 12 line items on the form, and provides comments.

There's loads of prize money to be given away........ why shouldn't we be making out a check to you? Click here to enter your quilt. The entry deadline is July 20th (the quilt doesn't have to be completely finished to enter).

Note: Kids Can Quilt (ages 6 to 16) entry fees are refunded or comp'd. The ONLY part of the quilt that the child must complete entirely by themselves is the quilting....... whether it be computerized or not. Adults may cut, piece, and bind. The entrant is only responsible for the quilting.
