Custom Cuts – the new world of Computerized Cutting. By now most of the quilting world knows about manual die cutters and cutting hundreds of 4½” squares can be done in a snap. Tricky applique shapes can also be mass produced with these wonders. However, if you only need a few units for your project or have an original custom design in mind, the purchase of a die or creation of a custom die will get pricey very fast. But again quilters have commandeered a tool from the scrapbooking world to satisfy the need for precise custom cutting. Once available only for sign making shops the computerized cutter has been retooled for the craft and quilting market. In this class, Candace West will introduce you to the types of computerized cutting machines and software programs that are available. We will discuss the many ways these machines can be used in quilt making. From appliqué, to template making, and embellishment, these machines could be your answer to custom cuts for original quilts that are uniquely yours.
