Al Hutchins - Early in 2005, Al Hutchins decided to turn his passion for quilts and quilting into a new career by purchasing a longarm quilting machine. He did extensive research and with his engineering background, he was naturally drawn to Gammill’s Statler Stitcher. His enthusiasm for this amazing machine and software impelled him to learn as much as possible about Precision Stitch and Auto Sketch. Within months of purchasing his Statler, he began teaching Precision Stitch classes and soon after Auto Sketch classes at the local Gammill dealer.
When Creative Studio was on the horizon, he was invited by the Statler Stitcher organization to be a Beta tester and participated in the development of this revolutionary software. He officially became Gammill’s first Certified Creative Studio Instructor in March, 2008. Al enjoys teaching Creative Studio classes and has met many wonderful quilters throughout the U. S. in the process. In 2008 he authored, filmed and produced “Understanding Creative Studio” the set of 3 instructional video discs as a reference tool for Creative Studio users.
Al and his wife Barbara currently reside in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Website: quiltartistrystudio.com.
