If you Build it

Corn StalkDo you remember the 1989 movie, Field Of Dreams, with Kevin Costner? It was a great movie that delivered a message of determination and tenacity. If he made the Herculean effort to build the field of dreams, would they come? Yes, they would, and yes they did!

Corn StalkWe can relate to that (you knew where this was headed, right?). For more than 14 years, Janet-Lee and Mary have strived to build high-quality, customer-service-focused quilt festivals that bring together people with the same passion..... quilts and quilting!

Now the question is........ we have built it, will YOU come?

Corn StalkMQX offers a curriculum that is diverse and suitable for all quilt and fiber lovers. There's fabric dyeing, quilt piecing, hand piecing, business, design, machine quilting and more. Of course our shows have leanings toward machine quilting but don't let that limit yourself from seeing stunning quilts, taking a class to try something new, and shopping the vendor mall. Lets face it, whether you own a regular sewing machine, longarm, midarm, sit-down longarm, you have invested your hard earned money into your machine(s). MQX is a golden opportunity to learn a variety of skills from top-notch instructors.

Here you go...... register for MQX, click here!

What would you like to learn?
Let's take a look at who is under the MQX spotlight today:
Spotlight right

Corn StalkFabric Dyeing - there is no one size fits all in fabric dyeing. Cindy Lohbeck has EIGHT class offerings. What would you like to learn? A Mini Mandala? Discharge Dyeing, Shibori? Batiking?.... click on Cindy's name (above) to check out her fun, half-day, classes.

Corn StalkIntense Piecing Made Easy - Gail Garber is known for precise piecing that appears intense and isn't as hard as it looks. Flying Geese, Freezer Paper Foundation Piecing, and Stars. Gail is also our Friday Night Dinner guest speaker. Her light and lively talk, "We All Have to Start Somewhere" is a celebration of friends that have influenced her quilting journey. Click on Gail's name (above) to learn more.

Corn StalkWholecloth - These quilts are inspiring, yet we're often intimidated by them. Teresa Silva is an ace at wholecloth design and marking. Teresa also offers a new concept, hands-on class incorporating modern designs in a relaxed setting. With one student per machine, this is a good opportunity to spend time at a machine to learn something completely new. Click on Teresa's name (above) for more details.

Corn StalkQuilters Fun Night / Hand Piecing - see..... MQX isn't only a machine quilting show, told ya! We're trying something new on Thursday night. Dorie Hruska (click Dorie's name to view all her classes and this event) will present a trunk show and teach us how to do English Paper Piecing! Bring your current EPP project or a finished EPP project for Show and Tell. Join us.... why not?

Corn StalkVintage Quilts/Items and Quilt Appraisal - Lori East is teaching three classes on how to work with vintage quilts, creating a vintage collage, and what it takes to be an appraiser. She is also the appraiser for MQX Midwest. Competition quilts may be be appraised or bring your quilt to the show for a professional appraisal. Click here for appraisal form.

Corn StalkQuilt Competition - The entry deadline is August 1st. Every quilt entered is judged on its own merits. How exciting to have your quilt judged by our three certified judges: Scott Murkin, MQX Permanent Lead Judge, Doris Goins, and Stacy Koehler. Have your entry appraised while it's at MQX by Lori East. The Appraisal Form will come with each quilt's acceptance letter or bring in a quilt. Make an appointment with Janet-Lee to bring a quilt in for an on-site appraisal.

Janet-Lee & Mary
Corn StalkBonnie McCaffery will have her Portrait Studio at MQX Midwest. She has an early reservation price deal if you book by August 1. Click here to book your appointment.
