Learn the various methods of border design on the IQ using Repeat Pattern, Path Pattern, and Line Pattern. Size the borders to fit the ideal quilt, then learn how to make them fit the actual quilt and stitch them without turning the quilt.

Learn to use Divide Pattern to split a closed pattern into two separate patterns, or convert a closed pattern to an open pattern with a built-in transition. Discover the multiple uses of Divide, including using closed patterns as line patterns or pantograph patterns, creating new patterns, and quilting patterns larger than the available quilting space.

Learn techniques to combat pattern alignment issues during stitching for patterns that must touch each other to be successful. Crosshatching, puzzle pieces, and chicken wire are prime examples. Learn to create a visually pleasing result with the majority of quilting done as a pantograph, and the remainder using the magic of line pattern. Students will receive several IQ patterns (by email after class).
