Karen Marchetti pieced her first quilt top in 2003 and it didn't take long for longarm quilting to become her true passion developing her own unique style of custom quilting. Karen loves creating and designing her own quilts, and competes as much as possible. Karen has won many national awards for her personal quilts, as well as client quilts. She quilts samples for Quiltworx as well as RJR Fabrics and she is one of Gammill's Quilting Artists. Her work has been in numerous publications, Gammill ads and she was recently a guest artist on The Quilt Show with Alex and Ricky. Did you see what Karen Marchetti did with her Mini Mandalas? She's willing to share how she designed her award winning quilt, "Andromeda's Crossing"! My job is to help you dye the fabric you will need. All of it, even the binding! In this all day workshop, each student will select a palette of three (3) colors of dye to work with for the whole day. From these three colors, you will dye several 22" x 22" ice dyed mandalas, six coordinating tone on tone solids, a 44" x 44" quilt back, a 44" x 44" quilt face, and a half yard of binding! From this coordinating collection of your own hand dyed fabric, you have everything you need to make your mandala quilt! You will have lots of fabric choices and options, so no excuses.....Karen is going to teach you to Cut The Fabric! Fills are fantastic, fun, and functional too! Whether filling oodles of empty space or accentuating beautiful appliqué, fills are a very necessary part of quilting. In class Karen will share many of her favorite background fills, including her signature fan fill, as well as combining fills for maximum effect. We’ll also cover density and scale of various designs and when to know which to use.
